Hello, good lookin’! Have I told you how excited I am that you are here? Welcome to The Manifesto with Taylor Patrice, the blog’s love child that will be gracing your inbox bi-weekly.
Starting now, something badass officially happens every Monday! Each week there will either be a new blog, or a new newsletter to look forward to!
The blog will be dedicated to examining policy alongside working out the contents of my heart and head. How we shape the world is not separate from how we experience it, so I have stopped trying to create cerebral content without the power of personal story.
The newsletter on the other hand includes a letter from me, a recap on what’s happening on the blog, upcoming features, community empowerment tips, and sustainability hacks.
So for a little bit more information about how we got here, you’ll want to start here:
The long and the short of it though is that one day I was considering quitting the blog and the next I was totally leaning into doing this full-time. A beautiful consequence of playing emotional and societal dodgeball with 2020 was that I got so tired of the predominate messaging that I change the focus of my own platform, almost in its entirety.
I was tired of people trying to out muscle each other with anger and wokeness, tired of being made the sale product by social media platforms protecting their own interest instead of my rights, and tired of contributing mere noise to a global generation that is using so much to say so little.
I wanted something different for the world, so I am creating it.
It’s no coincidence that I blog about policy and also want to stay far (far) away from most mainstream social media outlets because of their policies…but the truth is that at the moment, engaging social media is necessary in order to get my message out there. Because of my deep concerns about social media policy, you will see that what I do post often just links back to the blog or the newsletter. If you love my work, you might as well be here anyway. These private platforms, where I am the sole owner of my intellectual property and where my work is protected is where you will find the most interesting content to read and engage. The rest is just sprinkles.
It may seem like a worthless protest to keep my work off mainstream social media, but it’s the protest I believe in.
There is! But the bi-weekly email is always free, as is the paid section if you email me directly. I give a more thorough rundown about the paid section on the “About” page of this site but here’s the skinny: the paid content is how I can make a little extra money as a small writer on my most research-intensive content without having to allow popups on my site, without figuring out what the heck an Amazon influencer is, and without having to work the Tuesday morning shift only to earn the world’s worst exotic dancer title. There’s no pressure to ‘go paid,’ even though the welcome email to that section of the newsletter includes pictures of my dogs which should be incentive enough.
Keep an eye out every Monday for something from the blog, whether it be a newsletter, or a new post.
Make sure that you sign up for email notifications and that the emails are not marked as “spam” or “promotions.”
If you are excited about the newsletter, pretty please share it! It helps me grow as a small writer.
Make sure you check out what is new on the Blog…
And last but not least, huge thank you for being here! I am SO dang excited to get started. This guy and I are tipping our biersteins to you for supporting our little family.
Love,
Our entire misfit crew
Proud of you Taylor ...this is going to be a fun "RIDE" and I have every confidence that you will make it exciting, challenging and rewarding for all of us joining you! Love you kiddo!
