Happy not Monday Inner-Circle & Welcome to Tuesday. So here’s the sitch -
Eric took command and it’s felt a little like we have been getting dragged behind the freight train that crashed into us a few weeks back. It’s no biggy, it’s just like…a lot of coffee to backfill the lack of sleep. Still trying to navigate life in COVID super-lockdown, trying to get a run in for my mental health (and because I like to say hi to the cows down the road), trying to get the podcast up and off the ground, my computer crashing, 2 dog surgeries, a friend moving internationally so trying to host a couple going away meals, and all the normal life tasks has us running in circles. AND THUS, here we are at Tuesday with Monday’s new blog.
The cool thing about this following this platform is I am a very real human (who isn’t trying to be anything other than a very real human) who also talks about cool and important shit. Why? Because very real people need to spend more time productively talking about the really important things in life, and stop leaving it to the politicians. This stuff affects our lives right now, and we have the power to change it right now. I am policy and so are you. So here we are with my messy reality co-mingling with a serious blog for a fun, totally late email. Fashionably late applies to emails…right?
This week’s post is short, sweet, and to the point. It’s all about the basic’s of domestic policy. Bet you can’t guess what’s coming up in two weeks…you are right; it’s foreign policy.
Like you, I am SO eager to jump into the thick of specific policies, but even I am having to pump my own brakes to make sure we hit all the bases. As I have begun to dive into the thick of specific policies for the blog, I am realizing that talking about these in a way that makes sense requires a lot of of background information…so I am making sure we have the background information up front so that I can link to these blogs in the future when necessary. I promise, we are going to dive in deeper than just definitions and overviews.
In this weeks blog we talk about the following:
What is domestic policy?
How is domestic policy shaped? (You are going to want to read this section)
The importance of reliable news sources and social media outlets.
Levels of Domestic Policy
Domestic Policy Categories
The Role of Politics
Major Policy Issues (Super interesting section as well)
Y’all, I grew up (more than kind of) thinking this stuff was the bee’s knees, but now policy is the sermon I LOVE to preach. If you are reading this thinking to yourself ‘er, um, ugh, this seems kind of boring and irrelevant’…trust me, it’s not. This stuff is cool and relevant and and the sort of stuff every change-minded thinker needs in their arsenal. It’s the sort of love-your-neighbor, upward mobility stuff we all need right now.
Since we won’t see each other until next Monday, here’s a little rundown.
If you love what is happening here and want to share it with your smarty-pants friends…
If somehow, like a crazy person you aren’t subscribed to the email list yet…
